Who We Are
Central Nova Wesleyan dates back to 1948 when Rev. Norman Trafton held the first services under the Reformed Baptist Church. For 20 years, the church operated as Reformed Baptist until 1968, when the Wesleyan Methodists - who had previously joined with the Reformed Baptists in 1966 - merged with the Pilgrim Holiness church and became known as the Wesleyan Church.
In 1988, under the leadership of Rev. Denn Guptill, the church underwent a major building project, adding a new, modern sanctuary onto the existing church building that now seats approximately 225 people. The church currently has an average attendance of 85 people each Sunday morning.
In 2009, the older portion of the building - which had been the church building prior to 1988 - was torn down. The leadership of the church is currently planning for a future addition.
We are a part of the Wesleyan denomination (http://www.wesleyan.org/), which has churches throughout the world, and a membership of approximately 400,000. Our local district (http://www.atlanticdistrict.com/) - which includes the Atlantic provinces and Maine - has 60+ churches and approximately 10,000 worshippers each Sunday morning.
